What is CrossFit?
CrossFit is a form of high intensity interval training that’s made up of a series of workouts to keep your heart rate elevated while simultaneously building strength and endurance.

CrossFit can be used for a range of goals from weight loss, improved core strength, flexibility, power, speed, endurance, agility, and balance – all of which result in improved overall health and fitness.
Why is CrossFit so popular?
Unlike most exercises we do in the gym that tend to focus on isolated muscle groups, CrossFit training encompasses a whole host of functional movements from gymnastics, calisthenics, compound gym exercises, and olympic weightlifting to create an overall high intensity workout.
It was originally founded in 2000 by Greg Glassman and Lauren Jenai, and has grown to become a worldwide sensation – from having 250 affiliate gyms in 2007 to now over 15,000 CrossFit gyms throughout the world.
What can I expect from my first CrossFit training session?
We do a warm-up session first to prepare the joints for the movements, then we do a series of workouts designed to either strengthen core muscle groups or improve cardio with agility, flexibility and balance. At the end of the session, we’ll cool down to help the muscles with post-workout recovery.
Everyone feels a little daunted at their first session, but we’re a friendly bunch of people and everyone is at a different level, but the great thing about Cross training is that you work at your pace and fitness level.
How to get the most from your CrossFit training
CrossFit teaches you to be tough and push yourself. We are always capable of more and building your mental and physical endurance will help you achieve your desired results faster and more effectively.
Group training
CrossFit is done in a group where everyone trains together to encourage motivation, healthy competition and makes the workout more enjoyable. Our Personal Trainers will guide you through each workout and encourage you to lift heavier weights, do more repetitions and stretch yourself both physically and mentally.
Ultimate Fitness Cheshire’s Group Personal Training sessions in Warrington combine high intensity workouts similar to that of the CrossFit training model. There are no tie-ins. You can train for a month with us three times per week, and if it’s not for you then there’s no pressure to renew. Although we know from our previous members that most people stay because they enjoy is so much and they are seeing great results.
