Personal Training is a real investment you have made in yourself, so you’ll want to make sure you get the most of it. Remember that hiring a Personal Trainer is only one part of the jigsaw if you want to reach your goals – it’s also down to you to put in the work!

Here are five things you can do to help you get maximum benefit from this important investment:

Setting goals
Your first session with your Personal Trainer will be about finding out what goals you want to achieve from your training. These might be anything from improving your core strength, losing fat, toning, or improving your general fitness levels. It’s important that you talk to your trainer about these so they can tailor your workout to ensure you reach them.

Keeping you accountable
Having a Personal Trainer is like having a mentor. They’re there to guide and support you in your fitness journey. Now, they don’t expect you to be completely on form every session, we all have good and bad days. There may be times when you feel that you’ve overindulged on food or drink that week and it’s harder to get motivated. Keep communicating with your trainer so that they know how you’re feeling and when they need to give you that extra push to get you back on track.

Dealing with injuries
Be sure to tell your Personal Trainer about any past injuries. Even if they are past injuries, they may start to niggle once you start a training programme. They’ll tailor your session to make sure your injuries are protected and provide you with exercises to help ease any discomfort.

Set milestones
Your Personal Trainer will set key milestones during your programme dependant on your goals. This not only helps the trainer to see how your body is responding, it’s also a great encouragement for you when you can see how far you’ve come.

Remember that you’re in this for the long-haul. It isn’t about a 5,10, even a 50-week programme. It’s about long term gains and that takes hard work and consistency!

Don’t forget nutrition
You won’t feel the full benefit of your personal training if you aren’t nourishing yourself with the right foods. You may also need to adapt your diet to account for the fact that you’re burning up more calories than you used to.

We provide Nutrition Plans to help ensure you are eating the right nutrition and portion sizes according to your size and goals. Speak to your Personal Trainer about them.
